Hi, Does anybody know any patriotic quotes?

Hi, for the Fourth of July, i have been given the activity of decorating a little pin board with some patriotic qoutes. So if you could give the qoute and who said it, you would be my hero.LOL

“I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country”

-Nathan Hale

“America is therefore the land of the future, where, in the ages that lie before us, the burden of the World’s History shall reveal itself.”

– Georg W. Hegel

“Intellectually, I know that America is no better than any other country; emotionally I know she is better than every other country.”

-Sinclair Lewis

And, as much as it pains me

“America has never been united by blood or birth or soil. We are bound by ideals that move us beyond our backgrounds, lift us above our interests and teach us what it means to be citizens.”

-George W. Bush

fourth of July decorating ideas??/?

my grandma always rents a cabin in the mts this year it will be on the 4th the state park has a decorating contest.. What should we use and do to try and win?

See if you can get some red, white and blue lights (like the ones used on Christmas trees) and arrange the lights on the roof or the side of the house in a flag configuration. If there is a covered porch, staple patriotic fabric here and there from the upper edge to make ‘curtains’ near posts and tie them back with red ribbons. String lights around the porch, front door or in a tree. Set up an outdoor entertainment area with a picnic table decked out in red, white and blue tableware.
Buy flags (check the dollar store) and place them in pleasing spots. Perhaps you can get a hand full of the small flags with wooden sticks and place them on each side of the walkway to the door. Have the entire family wear red, white and or blue on the 4th of July. You can buy patriotic fabric and swag it outside under the windows. If you have any lanterns you can hang outside, you can slip a piece of blue velum paper inside to project a blue light. I would really play up the lights because that will be the best show at night time. Bring along thumb tacks and alot of partiotic wide ribbon and outline some of the outside windows or the door. You can get that inexpensive crep paper wide ribbon and wrap it around posts or make streamers from the branch of a tree near the outdoor entertainment area.

Go to the dollar store and just see what they have in the way of red, white and blue things you can use. You can buy a few 4th of july cards and tack them to your front door in a checkerboard pattern. Craft stores sometimes have patriotic paper in the scrapbook section along with solid colors. Take the paper and cut it to fit inside a plain drinking glass, stick a tea light in the glass and you will have an inexpensive decoration for the table. Do this to several different size glasses with different papers and you will have a great centerpiece on your table. Turn the glasses over at bedtime or if it rains to keep them fresh. Bring a wide, long yellow ribbon and tie it around an old oak tree.

I hope some of these suggestions will inspire you. With a little creativity, you can accomplish anything. Good Luck

When completely cooled, butter the sides of the pan. Increase oven temperature to 500 degrees F.
In a large mixing bowl with an electric mixer, combine cream cheese, sugar, zests and vanilla and beat until light and creamy. Add the flour, then the eggs and yolks 1 at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add the sour cream and mix until smooth. Pour mixture into prepared pan and bake for 12 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 200 degrees F and bake for 1 hour more. Transfer cake to a cooling rack and let cool completely. Refrigerate cake overnight before serving.
To serve, top with sauce of choice. Slice with a knife dipped in hot water and wiped with a clean cloth, and serve.
Strawberry Sauce:
2 pints fresh strawberries
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest
2 tablespoons kirsch or brandy
Combine berries, sugar, water and zest and cook until berries are soft and the liquid is thick, about 10 minutes. Stir in the kirsch or brandy and cook for 1 minute.

Remove from heat and let cool before pouring over the cheesecake.

3 cups fresh 1/2-inch diced pineapple chunks
1/4 cup sugar, plus more to taste
1 cup water
1 teaspoon finely grated orange zest
2 tablespoons light rum
Combine pineapple, sugar, water and zest, and cook until pineapple is tender and the liquid is thick, about 15 minutes. Stir in the rum, and cook for 1 more minute. Remove from the heat and let cool. Spoon on top of the cheesecake and serve.
Yield: about 3 cups

Additional topping ideas

May be served with any topping:
Caramel
Chocolate
Cheesecake Fruit Sauces

Lemon Blueberries
•1 pint blueberries
•1 lemon zested and juiced
•2 TBL sugar

In small saucepan add all ingredients and simmer over medium heat for 5 minutes or so until the fruit begins to break down slightly. Leave to cool before spreading on cheesecake.

Happy Strawberries
•1 qt strawberries, hulled and sliced
•2 TBL sugar
•1-2 oz Triple Sec or orange liquor

Combine all ingredients in bowl and mix.
Let sit for 15 minutes so strawberries can get “happy”

Vanilla Pineapple
•1 fresh pineapple
•2 TBL sugar
•½ good vanilla bean (whole bean if purchased from grocery store)
•1 oz light rum

Clean and cut pineapple into small cubes
Place all ingredients into saucepan and simmer over medium heat until pineapple softens.
Remove from heat and let cool. (vanilla will steep in pineapples) Remove ¼ – 1/3 mixture and puree it. Combine the puree with the chunks. Serve over cheesecake.

Amaretto Peaches
•1 can peaches drained and sliced
•2 TBL sugar
•½ tsp cinnamon
•1 – 2 oz amaretto

Place all ingredients into saucepan and simmer over medium heat until peaches are soft.
Remove ¼ – 1/3 of sauce and puree it. Mix the 2 together and serve over cheesecake.

What some good corn on the cob recipes?

I’m looking for something different from the original corn on the cob with salt and pepper with a little butter. I attending a Fourth of July party and I wanted to bring some corn on the cob.
the only catch is that the cob should be without husk

does anyone have a really good recipe for a carving on a watermelon for fourth of July?

Use a stencil or make your own and then just use a sharp paring knife scrape off the outer layer of skin so it will show up well, or you can hollow out the melon and place a candle inside like with a jack o’lantern…. You can make some really beautiful designs, or could do it like a flag, or fireworks, or whatever you like. You can also do a search for pumpkin/ fruit carving and find some really great templates online that you can print off.

Any ideas for a Fourth of July Party?

I’m throwing a Fourth of July party, and i want it to have a theme that’s not only patriotic. i mean, that too, but i want it to be more than just that. So its more original and people won’t forget it. Any ideas?

How about a snowy shaved ice party, with a variety of flavors. The theme could be “snow in July” or something. Cute video of ideas about that here;
